TEDxCapeTown showcases inspirational ideas, but these are not just good ideas. These are ideas that challenge our very assumptions of the system we see ourselves a part of. Famous jazz musician Louis Armstrong once said “what we play is life” and this quote inspired the theme for TEDxCapeTown 2012. It llustrates the light side of life and alludes to the fact that life is a game which we have to play and certain rules apply. But how we play and how we perform is ultimately up to us

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxCapeTown, where x = independently organized TED event.
At our TEDxCapeTown event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
